Natural Eye, Face Contouring, and Bold Lip

17 May

After over a year of being out of commission, my digital camera is finally up and running! 🙂 No more webcam make-up pictures, hooray! Ironically enough, after taking a few photos of my make-up today, the flash washed out a lot of the shadowing, so I still took a picture with my webcam because it picked up on the definition of the contouring a little better. Regardless, I’m super excited to have my camera back.

Anyway, today I had the day off while my boyfriend was working all day and my son was at school so I decided it was the perfect opportunity to mess around with my make-up. After all, I haven’t really had time to play for a while now. Lately I’ve been watching tons of YouTube video tutorials, many of which are on the fast-growing trend of contouring your face with make-up. I’ve contoured before (not on a regular basis, and very lightly) but I really wanted to get in there with darker shades for a real result, and since I didn’t have anywhere to be and therefore didn’t have to worry about it turning out completely outrageous, I went for it! The top picture (obviously) was the picture I took with my digital camera. My contouring lines, brows, and even blush appear much darker in real life. The second photo taken with my webcam defines the shadows and highlights I created a little better. Everything I used is below the pictures. I really can’t wait to mess around with this more!

Eye Look- Neutral with a Hint of Green

12 Sep

Here is a look that I wore to work yesterday. I usually don’t like wearing a whole lot of eye make up to work, but this particular day I wanted to spice it up a bit, hence the pop of green on my lower lash line. Although I was wearing primarily black, the under shirt I wore under my black dress was green, which is why I chose that color. 9/10 times I coordinate my make up colors with my clothes!

What I Used:
*Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion in Eden (matte, light-skintone base)
*MAC Charcoal Brown e/s on Brows (matte muted, taupe brown)
*LORAC Posh e/s (matte, light beige)
*LORAC Chic e/s (matte white)
*Coastal Scents Smokey Eye Palette (pinkish-peach shade)
*MAC Charcoal Brown (matte muted, taupe brown)
*Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Liner in Graffiti (shimmery, mid-tone green)
*MAC Newly Minted e/s (matte, light jade green)
*Prestige Black/Brown Liquid Eye Liner
*Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Very Black

Eye Look- Blue Tones

9 Sep

Here is a look I did using blues, with hints of silvery grey and purple. I didn’t start work until late that day, so I had lots of time to play around with my make-up. I chose these colors because they matched the accent colors in the shirt I was wearing.

What I Used:
*Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion in Eden (matte, light-skintone base)
*MAC Charcoal Brown e/s on Brows (matte muted, taupe brown)
*MAC Shroom e/s (soft, shimmery beige)
*MAC Cumulus e/s (shimmery blueish-grey)
*MAC Blue Flame e/s (shimmery navy blue)
*MAC Tilt e/s (frosty greenish-blue)
*MAC Meet the Fleet e/s (matte, deep greyish-navy blue)
*MAC Climate Blue e/s (mid-tone violet blue)
*Prestige Black/Brown Liquid Eyeliner
*Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Liner in Ransom (bright, iridescent purple)
*Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Very Black

Eye Look: Subtle Gold & Plum Smokey Eye

16 Jul

This is a subtle, smokey eye that I did using gold and plum shades. I had a little bit more time than usual before I had to go to work and wanted to do something more than the boring plain eye liner I’ve been doing, but not too overwhelming.

What I Used:
*Urban Decay Original Eye Shadow Primer Potion (transparent base)
*MAC Charcoal Brown e/s on Brows (matte muted, taupe brown)
*MAC e/s in Shroom (soft, shimmery beige)
*MAC e/s in Goldmine (intense, shimmery gold)
*LORAC Starry-Eyed Baked e/s Trio in Star Struck (shimmery shades of plum)
*MAC e/s in Top Hat (true deep purple with subtle shimmer)
*Urban Decay Supercurl Curling Mascara in Black

Eye Look: Purple, Hot Pink, and Teal

2 Jul

I’ve been doing natural, neutral eye looks lately. So boring! I had some time to play the other night and actually have some fun with my make-up so I went all out and used some of the brightest, most vibrant colors I own. 🙂 These colors together kind of remind me of 80’s-early 90’s fashion. There’s a little bit of light orange in there, above the pink, but my crappy webcam didn’t pick up on it very well, unfortunately. 😦

What I Used:
*Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion in Eden (matte, light-skintone base)
*MAC Charcoal Brown e/s on Brows (matte muted, taupe brown)
*Make-Up Forever e/s in #92 (matte, bold, vibrant purple)
*Make-Up Forever e/s in #75 (matte, neon hot pink)
*MAC e/s in Romping (shimmering bright fuschia)
*MAC e/s in Fab & Flashy (shimmering light yellow-orange)
*MAC e/s in Cool Heat (true teal with subtle shimmer)
*MAC e/s in Shroom (soft, shimmery beige)
*Benefit BADgal Mascara in Black

Bright, Summer Eye Look- Yellow, Coral, Brown, & Turqoise

24 May

Here is a look I did 2 summers ago (2010), and luckily my make-up obsessed self took a picture of my make-up, made note of what I used, and saved it! I did this to match the pattern of the dress I was wearing, which is why there’s so many colors. Not that I ever think there’s such thing as too many colors! 😉 I would like to just say that this isn’t my best job skill-wise, and I clearly was in the midst of deciding what the heck I wanted to do with my brows, because they were a hot, hot mess! Either way, I still love the color combo and its great for summer!

What I Used:
*MAC Painterly Paint Pot (matte, light-skintone base)
*MAC Charcoal Brown e/s on Brows (matte muted, taupe brown)
*MAC Chrome Yellow e/s (matte, vivid bright yellow)
*MAC Rule e/s (vivid orange)
*MAC Electric Coral Pigment (shimmery bright coral)
*MAC Peppier e/s (true coral with subtle sparkle)
*MAC Beautyburst e/s (rich reddish brown)
*MAC Shroom e/s (soft, shimmery light beige)
*Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Liner in Electric (bright aquamarine blue)
*MAC Glitter Eye Liner in Peacocky (glittery turqoise)
*Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara in Black

20 May

Still no camera here. 😦 Most of the shopping I do is for only groceries lately… and I still need to buy a new comforter for my bed in the worst way as every time I move the one I currently have, I get a giant cloud of feathers in my face! Soon, though… soon!

What I Used:
*Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion in Eden (matte, light-skintone base)
*MAC Charcoal Brown e/s on Brows (matte muted, taupe brown)
*MAC Shroom e/s (soft, shimmery beige)

*MAC Vibrant Grape e/s (matte bright plum purple)
*MAC Top Hat e/s (dark royal purple)
*LORAC Chic e/s (matte off-white)
*MAC Bang On Blue e/s (vibrant true blue)
*Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Liner in Crash (deep plum purple with silver sparkle)
*Benefit BADgal Mascara in Black
